Over the years, there have been several attempts to form an association of Illinois lawn care companies. These attempts often failed due to time restrictions, lack of interest and that the national association, Professional Lawn Care Association of America, met the needs of Illinois lawn care companies. Now that a new national association, Professional Landcare Network or PLANET, has formed to meet the needs of both the landscape and lawn care companies, the need to create a local association that concentrates on issues facing Illinois lawn care professionals has risen again.
What we desire is an organization that deals with issues and concerns that are important to Illinois lawn care professionals. Some of these issues are:
- Establishing a network of lawn care providers in Illinois
- Developing positive relationships amongst Illinois lawn care professionals
- Improving and increasing professional skills and knowledge
- Becoming proactive in environmental, regulatory and public policy matters that affect the Illinois lawn care industry on a state and municipal level
- Developing positive relationships with state and local decision makers
- Improving the credibility of lawn care in Illinois so that it is perceived as a positive and beneficial service
- Developing a positive image of lawn care professionalism for the consumer
- Developing a code of standards or responsible business practices for Illinois lawn care professionals to follow
- Become involved in the Illinois certification process
- Develop career paths in lawn care that attract new employees (read more)
